I joined Hiro as a part-time employee after being introduced by an acquaintance during my university days.

The concept of the Shijo Kiyamachi store, where I serve as manager, is to be a place that makes customers want to return. To achieve this, I make sure to greet every customer who comes in. First and foremost, I try to ensure that they remember my name, "Kataoka."
We want our customers to enjoy Hiro's meat at its most delicious, so sometimes we might say, "Now is the perfect time!" (laughs). Depending on the situation, we might even show you how to cook it right there.
The Shijo-Kiyamachi area is a highly competitive district with many popular yakiniku restaurants. While we are confident in the quality of our meat, I believe that providing hospitality that surpasses all other restaurants is the key to survival.
We aim to create a store that makes everyone say, "I want to come back again," and "That's Hiro for you."
The important position of store manager of the new store
They deliberately left it to me.
If there's one thing that really helped me grow, it's being promoted to manager of the Shijo Kiyamachi store.
The Shijo Kiyamachi store is a new store that opened in October 2018. Although another store manager laid the groundwork for about three months after the opening, I was initially worried about whether I could handle the job. I needed to build a base of regular customers from scratch, and I also had to train any part-time staff I hired.
However, the great thing about our company is the strong support we receive from headquarters. I'm in contact with the managing director every day, and he always encourages me. Thanks to him, I'm able to challenge myself with various things, such as developing new menu items and new drinks.
Also, now that I'm a store manager, I find the greatest joy in watching my junior colleagues grow and develop. As a result, I'm able to experience a healthy dose of challenge and a new sense of fulfillment.

- What are some memorable failures you've experienced in your work so far, and how did you deal with them?
- Sometimes we receive complaints directly from customers, and that's the hardest and most disheartening part of working here. I believe that mistakes are inevitable in any job, but after making a mistake, I always reflect on what I should have done, how I could have prevented it, and whether my response was correct, and I always keep in mind that I will never make the same mistake twice.

- A workplace that helps you turn challenges into opportunities for growth.
- What does fulfillment mean to you?
- It's when a customer smiles and says, "It was delicious, I'll come again." Since I became the manager, I've aimed to create a restaurant in Shijo Kiyamachi that people want to visit and bring their friends to. But what I truly find rewarding about this job is being able to directly feel and hear customers' smiles, their emotions, and their words of gratitude.
Equally rewarding is seeing the growth of my subordinates and part-time staff.
When staff members are able to do more things, when they receive praise from customers, or when staff members tell me that they received praise from customers, I realize that staff growth is essential in the process of creating a good store. When staff members are working together to create that growth, and when they empathize with my ideas and work hard, I feel like we are all working together in the store, and it makes me want to work even harder.

- I was entrusted with responsible work from my first year, and I feel that I have grown in every aspect.
However, I believe that I was able to grow in every aspect because I was supported not only by being given work, but also by having superiors who followed up on it, and by having people around me who encouraged me at times, as well as because I had a sense of "responsibility."
Of course, I was given the opportunity to become a store manager in my third year, and despite having little knowledge or experience, I was entrusted with a responsible position. Even now, there are many things I can't do and many things I worry about, but I find fulfillment and enjoyment in all of it.
- how to spend the holidays
- I enjoy eating and drinking, so I often research interesting restaurants with my friends and go there together.
On days when I want to relax, I watch movies at home and then go to a public bath to unwind.
- My dreams and goals for the future are
- When I was struggling to decide whether to join the company, I had the opportunity to speak with the managing director, who told me, "I hope you become the kind of person that makes the companies and organizations that rejected you during your job search think, 'That one got away.'" I hope to become that kind of person.
As soon as I became store manager, the managing director and some of my close superiors told me, "You've only just become store manager," so I know I still have a long way to go, but I'll do my best!
